Triangle of Duality

Ignoring the Absolute Truth for the moment, there are three, all-inclusive ways to classify the truth or falsity of meaningful statements:

  1. Certainties, which are either true or false.
  2. Uncertainties, which are neither true nor false.
  3. Paradoxes, which are both true and false.

These three classes form a complete set that can be represented by the vertices of a triangle, in which each vertex is the dual of the other two in some sense. This is the Triangle of Duality, encapsulating the three different ways that opposites can relate to each other: certainties (either-or), uncertainties (neither-nor), and paradoxes (both-and).

Integral Relational Logic is not directly concerned with the methods for determining the categories for particular propositions or mathematical theorems. In the quest for Wholeness, it is quite sufficient to note that all three categories exist, with paradoxes being the most fundamental. These are encapsulated in the Principle of Duality, Principle of Unity, and Cosmic Equation, as the basis for the harmonious Third Way of life.
