work

The basic definition of work, as a noun, is ‘activity involving mental or physical effort done in order to achieve a result’ and, as a verb, it is ‘to exert oneself physically or mentally in order to do, make, or accomplish something’.

Most adult humans, like the other animals, engage in work, at a minimum for basic survival, initially cooperating as families and communities of hunter gatherers, which have now evolved into civilizations, nations, business enterprises, and other types of organization.

network

In Integral Relational Logic, network is a primal concept, denoting structure after interpretation, with the additional attributes of hierarchical and associative relationships.

synergy

The word synergy was not in the battered edition of The Concise Oxford Dictionary of Current English that I was using in 1979, when I discovered the word while attending an IBM international meeting in Canada discussing the marketing and development of Decision Support Systems in business. Then the word denoted the increase in the meaning and power of information that arises from fully integrated databases.

energy

When we say that a child is full of energy, we use energy with a quite different meaning than its formal definition in physics, where it is related to the dimensions of mass, distance, and time, as we see in Einstein’s famous equation E = mc2. For human energy is not necessarily related to our weight.
